Several great players have yet to find a club for the new season.

Hballtransfers.com provides you the overview of some of the biggest free agents of the season of 2016/17.

Siarhei Rutenka - Updated

Last season the Belarusian left back Siarhei Rutenka began with the Qatari club Lehkwiya SC. By mutual agreement they terminated the contract in December 2015. Rutenka played the European Championship with Belarus in Poland in January, and finished the season with the Belarusian club SKA Minsk. Now the Belarusian star has signed a contract for the rest of the year with the Qatari club Al Qayada. Read more.

Dragos Oprea - Updated

The 34-year-old German/Romanian left wing Dragos Oprea played after 13 years in Frisch Auf! Göppingen last season in THW Kiel and TuS Ferndorf. He has now signed a short-term 3-game contract with the Bundesliga club TVB 1898 Stuttgart. Read more.

Drasko Nenadic - Updated

The 26-year Serbian left back Drasko Nenadic, who is the younger brother of Petar (Füchse Berlin), had a very bad beginning of 2016. First he got a serious knee injury and just a few days later his club HSV Hamburg went bankrupt. He is the only player of the squad, who still hasn't found a new club.

Drasko Nenadic has signed a contract with Füchse Berlin.

Renato Vugrinec - UPDATED

The 41-year-old Slovenian/Macedonian right back, who last season played in the Israeli club Maccabi Rishon LeZion, first decided to retire, but has now signed a contract with Hapoel Rishon LeZion for the rest of the season.

Steffen Stegavik - UPDATED

The Norwegian playmaker Steffen Stegavik had a great last season for the Norwegian champions Elverum HH both in the domestic league and Champions League. He is married to the Norwegian woman national player Camilla Herrem, who has signed a contract with RK Vardar in Macedonia. It is therefore reasonable to believe, that the 32-year-old playmaker continues his career in a Macedonian club.

Update: Steffen Stegavik has signed a 2½-year contract with Nærbø Håndball from the 2nd best league in Norway.

Kasper Nielsen - UPDATED

The former Danish national player Kasper Nielsen played in the Danish club Ribe-Esbjerg HH last season. The 41-year-old defense specialist has confirmed, that he is willing to continue his career if the right offer comes. Kasper Nielsen has played 191 caps and won the European Championship with Denmark twice in 2008 and 2012. He has played in clubs as GOG, SG Flensburg-Handewitt, Bjerringbro-Silkeborg, Füchse Berlin and TBV Lemgo.

Update: The 41-year-old defense specialist makes comeback!

Ivan Karacic - UPDATED

After failing results the Swiss champions Kadetten Schaffhausen has terminated the contract of the Bosnian national player Ivan Karacic with immediate effect. The 31-year-old Bosnian playmaker, who came from the financially strapped Romanian club HCM Minaur Baia Mare to Kadetten during last season, is now without a club. The older brother of the Croatian national player Igor Karacic has previously played in clubs as RK Borac Banja Luka and HC Meshkov Brest.

UPDATED: He has signed a contract with the Israeli club Maccabi Srugo Rishon Lezion.

Barna Putics

The 201 centimeters tall Hungarian left back has yet to find a new club after he left the French club Tremblay Handball this summer. The Hungarian national player, who previously has played in clubs as KC Veszprém, FC Barcelona and VfL Gummersbach, would like to return to Germany. Read more here.

Naumce Mojsovski

A month ago the Macedonian playmaker was linked to the two Qatari clubs Al Ahli and Lekhwiya. The 36-year-old former Macedonian national player, who last season played in the Romanian club CSM Bucuresti, told the Macedonian website Ekipa.mk that his future would be certain in ten days, and that he probably would return to Qatar. Also the ambitious Macedonian club HC HJS Rabotnik Bitola and Mojsovski have been linked, but nothing is official yet.

Felipe Borges

The Brazilian left wing Felipe Borges had signed a contract with the ambitious Portuguese club Sporting CP, but in the preparations for the Olympics with the Brazilian national team the captain got a serious shoulder injury. Sporting terminated the contract, and instead signed the Serbian left wing Ivan Nikcevic. It is still uncertain wether or not the 31-year-old former Montpellier-player will be healthy to play this season.

Marco Oneto

The 34-year-old Chilean line player played in Wisla Plock last season, but didn't got his contract extended. The 204 centimeters tall defense specialist has played in European top clubs as FC Barcelona, Bidasoa Irun, Naturhouse La Rioja, KC Veszprém, SC Magdeburg and GWD Minden. It is still uncertain wether he'll continue his career or retires.

Carlos Prieto

After playing the last 3 seasons in HSG Wetzlar the Spanish line player Carlos Prieto hasn't found a new club yet. The 36-year-old Spaniard has previously played in clubs as FC Barcelona, BM Ciudad Real, BM Valladolid, Rhein-Neckar Löwen, RK Celje and Kadetten Schaffhausen.
