Rhein-Neckar Löwen confirms the rumors about Kim Ekdahl Du Rietz, who wants out of his contract after this season one year early.

According to sensational informations of the Swedish newspaper, Sportbladet, on friday the former Swedish national player, Kim Ekdahl Du Rietz, had decided to retire from handball after this season.

The CEO of Rhein-Neckar Löwen, Jennifer Ketteman, now confirms to Mannheimer Morgen, that the 27-year-old Swedish left back, Kim Ekdahl Du Rietz, wants out of his contract after this season one year early.

"It's true, Kim is willing to leave the contract at the end of the season."

The former Swedish national player, who retired from the national team as only 25-year-old, is still bound to the German champions until the summer of 2018. However, a clause allows him to leave the club after this season, but he must therefore buy himself out of the contract to leave.

The Sports Director of Rhein-Neckar Löwen, Oliver Roggisch, is not suprised by the choise of Ekdahl Du Rietz.

"We all know what Kim is for a human being, so we knew that something like that could happen at some point. I've already noticed that he's serious about it. We respect his wishes, but the last word has not yet been discussed in this matter," said Oliver Roggisch to Mannheimer Morgen.

The management of the German champions hope to keep the Swedish left back a little longer.

"We hope he will stay at least until 2018. Kim is currently playing like a young God. We have to find someone at a similar level," CEO of Rhein-Neckar Löwen, Jennifer Ketteman, continued.

So Rhein-Neckar Löwen will without financial compensation not let Ekdahl du Rietz move in the summer of 2017 according to Mannheimer Morgen.
