The experienced Icelandic pivot Vignir Svavarsson extends his contract with the Danish League club TTH Holstebro for another season.
Press release from TTH Holstebro:
TTH Holstebro and the Icelandic pivot Vignir Svavarsson have extended cooperation to the summer of 2019. The former Icelandic national player is in the second season in TTH and he enjoys the stay at the club.
"I'm really happy for the extension and happy in the club. I am looking forward to being part of the TTH family at least for a year more. I enjoy the strong club environment and look forward to continuing to give some of my routine to the rest of the squad," says Svavarsson who scored five times in Wednesday's victory over Aalborg Håndbold.
TTH head coach Patrick Westerholm is pleased that Vignir Svavarsson continues in white.
"Vignir is a leader both on and off the court. Despite his age, he still shows a high level at both ends of the court, so I'm pleased that we can have him for another season," says Westerholm.
The 37-year-old Icelandic player started his career in the Icelandic club Haukar Hafnarfjörður before joining the Danish League club Skjern Håndbold in 2005. In 2008 he joined the Bundesliga club TBV Lemgo. After 6 years in the Bundesliga with Lemgo, TSV Hannover-Burgdorf and GWD Minden, he returned to Denmark to HC Midtjylland. In 2016 he joined the League rival TTH Holstebro.
The experienced pivot has played 230 caps and scored 261 goals for Iceland, with whom he won bronze at the European Championship 2010 in Austria and participated in the Olympics 2012 in London.
