Olympic winners nominated for an award

The Danish Olympic winners can now also be the Sports Name of the Year in Denmark.

The team of Gudmundur Gudmundsson has been nominated to the sports name of the year in Denmark. 

At the "Sport 2016 show" in Herning, Denmark the 7 of January 2017 it will be decided, who will run with Denmark's perhaps most prestigious sports award, the Sports Name of the Year.

The handball national team fights against the Danish Olympic gold medal winner, the swimmer Pernille Blume, and the Danish Olympic silver medal winner, the hedge runner Sara Slott Petersen.

The Danish men national team won the award in 2008 after they won the first European Championship ever. The Danish women's national team has won the award three times.
