The experienced Danish pivot Michael Knudsen has extended his contract with the Danish top club Bjerringbro-Silkeborg.

Press release from Bjerrinbro-Silkeborg:

There was bid for Michael Knudsen from home and abroad, but the experienced pivot has chosen to stay in Bjerringbro-Silkeborg. Here he has extended his contract until 2019.

"I still feel that I have something to contribute. I enjoy the daily life of the club and we play in the top. We have clear goals that we must win and that is what I'm passionate about."

"I've helped to start something new here in Bjerringbro-Silkeborg, and I've been an important piece in recent years so it was easy to continue. There were many interesting offers elsewhere from, and it was in my reflections, but I'm really passionate about the project, so it makes sense to continue," says Michael Knudsen, who, with the family, feels very well in Silkeborg.

Great importance to the club
He came to Bjerringbro-Silkeborg in 2014 after nine seasons in the German top club, SG Flensburg-Handewitt. Since then he has been a leader and a key figure in building the new Bjerringbro-Silkeborg team, gathered just over three years ago. Therefore, the club is pleased that the long-term national player profile takes a season more in the club.

"We are very pleased that Michael wants to continue. He has had great importance both on and off the court in recent seasons, where he has been an important factor in our good results. And then Michael is a big profile that is important for our position as Denmark's strongest handball brand," says CEO Jesper Schou.

Bredsdorff: Completely natural to continue the cooperation
Also Bjerringbro-Silkeborg's manager, Peter Bredsdorff-Larsen, is looking forward to having one of the League's biggest profiles for another season.

"I smile at the idea that many four years ago thought it would be difficult for Michael Knudsen to come back to Denmark. It's only a pleasure to see that Knudsen still works physically and still plays a high level of gaming."

"On this basis, it is natural to continue the cooperation. There is still plenty of energy and will in Michael. He has been an important part of building this team and a big part of the success. Therefore it is only gratifying that we have managed to make a new deal, "said Peter Bredsdorff-Larsen.
