The Icelandic national player, Janus Dadi Smarason, has signed a 3-year contract with Aalborg Håndbold from next season to the summer of 2020.
The 22-year old Icelandic playmaker of the Icelandic club Haukar, Janus Dadi Smarason, has signed a 3-year contract with Aalborg Håndbold from next season to the summer of 2020.
"He is a quick playmaker with a good view and great understanding of the game, while he is also a dangerous himself. We have followed him for a long time, and he has the potential for a great future as a playmaker," says Jan Larsen, director of Aalborg Håndbold.
Janus Dadi Smarason is no stranger to the Danish conditions. He played two years as a youth U18 player in Aarhus Håndbold.
"I am excited to return to Denmark and to become a part of Aalborg Håndbold. The Danish league is strong and Aalborg Håndbold is a club with big ambitions and is always in the top of the league," says Janus Dadi Smarason.
Aalborg Håndbold already has three Icelanders on the payroll in the form of left wing Stefan Rafn Sigurmannsson, playmaker Arnor Atlason and head coach Aron Kristjansson.
Janus Dadi Smarason is a part of the Icelandic national teams initial squad, and he therefore possibly participates at the upcoming World Championship in France.
