Rumor: Stanic replaces Sterbik!

The Champions League winner RK Vardar has allegedly finally found the replacement for Arpad Sterbik.
After the announcement of the departure of the world class goalkeeper, Arpad Sterbik, who joins the Hungarian top club Telekom Veszprém after this season (read more here), several goalkeepers has been mentioned as possible successors in RK Vardar.
Recently, the Croatian national goalkeeper Ivan Pesic confirmed, that he had rejected an offer from RK Vardar, and instead extended his contract with the Belarusian champion BGK Meshkov Brest (read more here). Other goalkeepers as Mirko Alilovic and Borko Ristovski have been linked with RK Vardar.
Instead, much suggests that an old acquaintance of Macedonian handball returns. The 39-year-old former Serbian national goalkeeper Darko Stanic has according to the Macedonian website Sport.com.mk signed a 1-year contract with RK Vardar to replace Arpad Sterbik.
Darko Stanic played in Macedonia at the rivals of RK Vardar, RK Metalurg, from 2011 to 2014. Since, he has played for several teams, German SG BBM Bietigheim (2014–15), al Kuwait SC (2015), Rhein-Neckar Löwen (2015) and now in the Qatari club El Jaish (2015–).
Stanic was banned from playing handball for two years (2006–08), following testing positive for cocaine. He has played 103 caps for the Serbian national team, with whom he won silver at the European Championship 2012 at home in Serbia.
