According to Marca has the former Spanish national coach Manolo Cadenas rejected an offer from the Handball Federation of Bahrain.

The former Spanish national coach Manolo Cadenas has according to Marca rejected an offer he had received from the Handball Federation of Bahrain to take charge of their national team until after the World Championship in France in January 2017.

The coach, who left the Spanish national team last August, in which he was replaced by Jordi Ribera, and who had also finished as head coach at the Polish top club Orlen Wisla Plock this summer, could have become the substitute of the former national coach of Bahrain, Spanish Fernando Barbeito.

Apart from the interest from Bahrain, Cadenas had according to Marca previously rejected offers from clubs from Qatar and Romania, as well as national teams such as Croatia, who finally decided to keep their coach.

The experienced Spanish coach has recently stated, that he is ready for new tasks.

Bahrain came 2nd in the Asian Championship and therefore participates in the World Championship in France in January in Group D with Qatar, Denmark, Sweden, Egypt and Argentina. It is the only second time Bahrain participates in a World Championship. First time was in 2011 in Sweden, where they finished at a 23th place. They were also qualified for the World Championship 2015 in Qatar, but decided to withdraw.
