Laurent Busselier becomes new assistant coach of Chambéry Savoie Mont Blanc Handball.
Steeped in tradition the French League club Chambéry has got a bad start of the French League this season. The French club recorded the fourth consecutive defeat in Lidl Starligue on Wednesday night, beaten by Toulouse (23-27).
A few minutes after the meeting, Alain Poncet, the President of the club, announced to the players, and then at the press conference, the appointment of Laurent Busselier to the position of assistant coach of Ivica Obrvan. The former player also retains his position as head of the club's training center.
"I named this afternoon Laurent Busselier as assistant coach of the first team. He will of course keep the position of coach of the training center. As of tomorrow he will be with Ivica Obrvan to work on what we lack to achieve our goals. This decision was made in consultation with Ivica Obrvan, Laurent Munier, general manager and Bertrand Gille, sports director to settle a number of things. Laurent Busselier is a person who knows the club well and in whom we have complete confidence." said Alain Poncet in a press release of the club.
Laurent Busselier wore the colors of Chambéry from 2000 to 2013 where he was crowned champion of France in 2001. Since his retirement, he has trained the future players of the club within the training center.
"You can notice that more than half of the team was trained in Chambéry. Laurent knows his players well. As we have said in recent days, we are in our scheme, in our work and we will go to the end of our approach. The objective for this season remains the same: To qualify for the European Cup at the end of the season. The first victory today is to work to regain confidence and move forward. It may take a little time but we will get there! We are in combat mode!" said the president of the club.
Besides the French Lidl Starligue Chambéry also participates in the EHF Cup, where the club in Round 2 faces Maccabi Srugo Rishon Lezion from Israel.
