Press release from HC Erlangen:

The HC Erlangen commits Gorazd Skof, an international goalkeeper of the French Champions League club Paris Saint-Germain. The Slovenian national player will change to Franconia in the summer of 2017 and together with Nikolas Katsigiannis form a perfect team between the posts of Bayern's biggest handball team. Skof has signed a one-year contract with HC Erlangen.

The 39-year-old Slovenian born in Novo Mesto completed 42 competitive games for PSG in the current season and has a very large share of the success of the Parisians with a strong 33.46 percent share of saved balls. The French champion is also currently leading the Lidl StarLigue, reaching the quarter-finals of the VELUX EHF Champions League on Saturday night with a victory over HBC Nantes. The 188-time national player came to PSG via the stations of the top clubs Celje, Zagreb, Koper and Nantes and won silver for his country in addition to various national championships at the 2004 European Championship. In 2016 he participated at the Olympics.

"That a player of such a format decides for the HC Erlangen, shows what good reputation the HC enjoys not only in Germany but now also across Europe. The enormous importance of the goalkeeper is well-known, so we worked intensively on a perfect solution. With the commitment of Gorazd, we have now managed to occupy this still vacant position absolutely first-class," revealed René Selke, CEO of HC Erlangen, enthusiastically of the transfer.

Gorazd Skof is also looking forward to his future in Franconia: "It has always been a dream of me to play in the German Bundesliga and I get this opportunity now at a club that represents a clear and ambitious philosophy! I look forward to Erlangen and to Germany. "
