The Spanish head coach of the national team of Hungary, Xavier Sabaté, extends his contract until after the World Championship in France in January 2017.

The Hungarian top club Telekom Veszprém, where Xavier Sabaté at the start of last season, where Antonio Carlos Ortega was sacked, took over the job as head coach, have given him permission to continue in the job as head coach of the national team of Hungary. The Spanish coach replaced another Spaniard, Talant Dujshebaev, as national coach after the European Championship in Poland in January.

Hungary participate in the World Championship in France. They're in group C with Germany, Croatia, Belarus, Chile and Saudi Arabia. The group is played in Kindarena in Rouen.
