Vitali Ivanov becomes new assistant coach of the Russian national team.

The Russian Handball Federation has announced, that the current assistant coach of Vladimir Maksimov in the Russian champion club Chekhovskie Medvedi, Vitali Ivanov, becomes the new assistant coach of the Russian national coach Dmitri Torgovanov. 

Vitali Ivanov replaces the former assistant coach, Lev Voronin, who in December 2016 was elected general director of the Russian Handball Federation.

"I am very pleased that the Handball Federation of Russia entrusted me with the work in the men's team of Russia. For me, this is a big step forward in my career. I will be pleased to work with Dmitri Torgovanov. I am very comfortable with him, he is an open, pleasant person in communication. I think that during the gathering of our team before the matches of the qualifying round of the European Championship with Sweden we will discuss the details of cooperation. But I have already started my duties," Vitali Ivanov states in a press release from the Russian Handball Federation.

Vitali Ivanov was as a player a playmaker. He won a bronze medal with Russia at the Olympics in 2004 in Athens. He played 236 caps and scored 522 goals for the Russian national team.
