Dolenec signs long term contract with Barca

FC Barcelona has signed a 5-year contract with Jure Dolenec from next season.

The Spanish champions FC Barcelona have reached an agreement with Montpellier Handball for the addition of the Slovenian back Jure Dolenec for the next five seasons.

Jure Dolenec was born in Ljubljana, Slovenia on 6 December 1988. At 190cm he is a right back who began his career with local side Loka in 2004. In 2011 he moved on to fellow Slovenian team Gorenje Velenje before signing for Montpellier in 2013.

Dolenec is an experienced campaigner with 380 appearances and 106 goals for the Slovenian national side with whom he will be in action in France in the upcoming world championships.

In the highly competitive French League he has scored 322 goals in 87 matches with 55 goals in 13 games so far this season. In the current VELUX EHF Champions League season he has 44 goals, on course to surpass his total of 71 from last season. 

Montpellier has replaced Jure Dolenec with the talented French right back Melvyn Richardson (read more here)
