Jovica Cvetković replaces Dejan Peric to become head coach of the Serbian national team again.
The experienced Serbian coach, Jovica Cvetković, replaces Dejan Peric as head coach of the Serbian national team just few weeks before the Qualifiers for the European Championship 2018 in Croatia.
The new Board of the Serbian Handball Federation with the new president Bozidar Djurkovic has decided that it was time for change.
The former Serbian national coach, Dejan Peric, did not manage to qualify Serbia for the Olympic Games 2016 in Rio and World Championship 2017 in France. Furthermore, players like Marko Vujin, Rastko Stojkovic, Alem Toskic and Strahinja Milic have been deselected in the period of Peric, while Momir Ilic has taken a break from the national team while Peric was responsible.
Jovica Cvetković was coach of the Serbian national team from 2006 to 2009, where he managed to get the best Serbian result in the World Championship ever in 2009 in Croatia, where Serbia finished 8th.
Serbia play against Poland and Belarus in early November. Jovica Cvetković has not yet selected his initial squad.
