Wetzlar signs Swede

The 30-year-old Swedish free agent left back Emil Berggren has signed a 1+1-year contract with the German Bundesliga club HSG Wetzlar.

Both Emil Berggren and his girlfriend Jamina Roberts have spent the summer trying to finding a new club. Last week Jamina Roberts, who participated in the Olympics in Rio with Sweden, signed a 1+1-year contract with the Swedish top club IK Sävehof. Now the time has come for Emil Berggren. Due to a serious injury on the new left back of HSG Wetzlar, Philipp Pöter, due to health problems, the agreement came in to being.

The Swedish left back played in the Danish club Aalborg Håndbold last season. Before that, from 2012 to 2014, he played in Bergischer HC in Germany. In 2007 he won the U21 World championship with Sweden in Macedonia.

It is the seventh signing of HSG Wetzlar this summer:
