From next season Sky and ARD will broadcast the DKB Handball Bundesliga live / highlights of the world's strongest league with Sky, ARD and ZDF / Maximum media presence through comprehensive partnership with the broadcasters.
After the approval of the HBL Presidium, Handball-Bundesliga GmbH (HBL) has awarded the rights package of national media rights. The result: thanks to the new media partnership of Sky and ARD / ZDF / SportA with the DKB Handball Bundesliga, the traditional sport will receive even more coverage, more production quality and an unprecedented media presence in the German-speaking world from the coming season 2017/18.
The media partnership is the first of its kind in the field of sport and, in addition to the DKB Handball Bundesliga, the 2. Handball Bundesliga, the DHB trophy including the REWE Final Fours, the PIXUM Super Cup and the All Star Game. In addition to the numerous, regular live broadcasts on Sky, up to twelve Leaguematches including the DHB Cup final will be broadcast by ARD in the first and third programs.
In addition, all channels and ZDF will regularly show highlights of the match day in their news and sports broadcasts. IPTV, web and mobile rights are also part of the agreement.

The negotiations on the part of ARD and ZDF were led by SportA, the joint sports rights agency of ARD and ZDF.
Detailed information on the scope and the editorial design of the live transmissions of the DKB Handball-Bundesliga will be announced in the coming months.
